DIY Pressure Washing Cost Comparison
There can be some sticker shock when potential clients get a bid for some jobs. I wanted to do a brief price comparison using Home Depot rental prices (local to the Portland area as of 10/28/25). The goal is to show how valuable a professional pressure washing service can be compared to a DIY approach. Our prices for most driveway pressure washing falls into a $200-$300 range. This depends on the both the size of the driveway and on the degree of moss removal necessary.
To get professional results the first thing a homeowner needs is professional equipment. The current rate to rent a 3500-4000PSI pressure washer ($105 full day) and surface cleaner ($38 full day) from Home Depot is $143. In addition the renter will have to fuel the pressure washer. Non-ethanol fuel generally runs over $5 a gallon. If the pressure washer is run for 3 hours that would be an additional $15, bringing the total to $158. On top of the financial cost, the homeowner will also need to spend the time driving back and forth to the store, learning to use the equipment, and doing the work themselves.
That’s where we come in. You may pay a little more, but what you’re getting will save you significant time and give you a better result. We’re used to treating tough moss and stains. We have the best equipment, the experience, and the right attitude to get your property cleaned. Spend your time with your family, on a hobby, or however you like, and come out to see the results.
